Issuance of a Residence Permit On 19/02/2020, Law 4666/20120 was published in the Government Gazette, which replaces articles 33 and 34 of Law 4251/2014. The articles in question concern the granting of a residence permit for study purposes.
As mentioned in article 6 of law 4666/20020 (Replacement of article 33 of law 4251/2014 (Α΄ 80), the citizen of a third country who has received a national visa for studies in Greece, submits an application to the competent service if they meet abroad. the general conditions and the following
A. has been accepted into a higher education institution in Greece
B. its resources are sufficient to cover the living expenses of the students during their stay, as well as to cover the expenses of the return trip.
C. to have paid the registration fees to the relevant higher education institution
It should be noted that where the certificate of adequacy of knowledge of the Greek language is considered necessary as a condition for its registration, the certificate for the issuance of the residence permit must be submitted.
If, based on the submitted documents, it is established that the study conditions are met, the competent service shall grant the said leave within sixty days from the submission of the full application.
The study permit is valid for one year and may be renewed for a period of one year. If the duration of the study program is less than one year, the residence permit is valid for the duration of the study program.
Regarding the duration of the residence permit for students of EU or multilateral programs or programs by agreement between two or more higher education institutions, the duration of the residence permit is two years.
